About
Chief Tarascou began his career with the Sanger Fire Department in 2001 after receiving his honorable discharge from the United States Navy. Starting as a Firefighter/Paramedic, Chief Tarascou served in the capacity as the Department’s Prehospital Liaison Officer, Infection Control Officer and as a Field Training Officer. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2009 and to the position of Battalion Chief in 2010. He served as the Interim Fire Chief for the Fire Department for two years and has served the City as the Fire Chief since April of 2013.
Education
Chief Tarascou received his Associates’ degree in Fire Technology from Allan Hancock College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management and a Masters of Public Administration from Ashford University.
Memberships
Additionally he has completed the Executive Fire Officer Program from the National Fire Academy, is an accredited Chief Fire Officer from the Center for Public Safety Excellence has a membership grade with the Institution of Fire Engineers. Chief Tarascou is an active member of the California Fire Chiefs Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, is a Past President of the Central Valley Fire Chiefs Association and an active member of the Sanger Rotary Club.
