Don Negri

Dr. Don Negri Don Negri, Club President, 1961-1962

Dr. Negri was born in 1932 and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. He attended the University of Southern California from 1949 through 1951 studying pre-optometry courses. He graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1955 before entering the U.S. Army. He served our country from 1955-1958 and achieved the rank of Captain.

Dr. Negri moved to Sanger and opened an optometry office in 1958 serving the community for 49 years. He sold the practice to Dr. Marc Sorsky in January 2007. Dr. Negri’s membership in Rotary was obviously influenced by his desire to serve. He participated in over forty clinic trips to help needy patients in Africa, South America, India and Mexico. He enjoyed working with the underprivileged so much; he considers it one of his hobbies. As busy as Dr. Negri was, he still found time to be a clinical instructor at the optometry school at UC Berkely from 1969 through 1975.

Dr. Negri has three children and 9 grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoys reading and weightlifting.
