Al Puente
Al Puente, Club President, 1988-1989
Al Puente was born in 1943 at Del Rio, Texas. His family moved to the Central Valley during 1948 and he graduated in 1962 from Riverdale High School in Riverdale, California. He went on to West Hills Community College earning an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. He completed a Bachelors Degree in Recreation/Public Administration at California State University Fresno. In 1978 he earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration and is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Public Administration through the University of San Francisco, Golden Gate University.
Al and his family lived in Sanger from 1976-2001 where he served as Director of Parks and Recreation, Assistant City Manager and Interim City Manager. He went on to be the City Administrator at Orange Cove, California and City Manager for Parlier and Huron in California.
While in the Sanger Al served as Club President during the 1988-1989 Rotary year. He enjoys community associations and also has belonged to the Elks Lodge #2504, Knights of Columbus, Board Member of St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, and Advisory Board Member of the Sanger Hospital.
Al and his wife Karen have been married for 40 years and live in Kingsburg, California. They have two children, Tommy-Lee who lives in Fresno and Kathy-Anne who lives in Kingsburg.
